Atiku Is Corrupt, A Fugitive And Can't Travel To America------Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has yet again opened up over the estranged relationship between him and his former deputy, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, saying that despite the fact that the latter was corrupt during their regime, he (Obasanjo) had to take him along for his second term in office in 2007 due to expediency.

“At that time, politically, I needed to carry
him (Atiku) along but then to put him in check,” said Obasanjo.

Obasanjo, who said that he was unaware of Atiku’s activities until law enforcement agencies in America alerted his government, however, confessed that he could not in good conscience ask that his deputy be investigated then.

He, however, said he could not ignore the calls by the Americans to investigate the ex-vice president, which the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) did then.

The ex-president added that the allegations by the Americans were justified since Atiku is a fugitive in United States.

“I don’t know if he can go to America…He travels? Travels to where? To Dubai? Let him go to America and return to Nigeria”.

He also took a swipe at the same EFCC, saying that the commission had lost its original vision of a bold and fearless agency capable of fighting economic and financial crimes in the country.

Obasanjo made this criticism in an interview published in the current and special edition of Zero Tolerance magazine, a publication of the anti-graft agency to mark its 10th year anniversary.

Obasanjo also denied ever prompting Ribadu to investigate anybody for political reasons but he was quick to admit that Ribadu went haywire.

The ex-president also faulted the choice of Mrs. Faridi Waziri to head the commission after its pioneer chair, Nuhu Ribadu, was unceremoniously removed by the late Ptresident Yar’Adua, saying she did not have the cognate experience and connection needed for the position.

Talking about Nigeria’s position on global corruption index before and now, he said: “There was a lot of work that was done to achieve that feat (moving from position number 2 to 45). I think we have come down to only being above 34 countries; that shows that there must be a lot

Boko Haram Attacks To Continue

As security agencies are after Boko Haram remnants, incessant killings and bombing may continue for some times until it is finally wiped off.
Informed top security sources disclosed to the Nigerian Tribune that the Boko Haram attacks would continue unabated despite the demise of its top two officers because “there is no more central command”, even as the security operatives vow to arrest every one of them.
In the last few days, the sect has attacked some villages in Borno State, killing scores of people despite the victory of the military over them, including the killing of its two leaders, Abubakar Shekau and Bama Momodu.
According to security reports, some terrorists stormed some villages and killed not fewer than 50 people and this has been raising some questions over alleged victory claimed by the military over the sect.
However, it was gathered by the Nigerian Tribune from security sources that the Boko Haram insurgents have been defeated but desperately attacking innocent people in order to draw attention to themselves despite the defeat.
The top security source added that with the level of co-operation they are receiving from members of the public, such attacks would soon be over.
The top security  source added: “We are after every one of them, they will all be arrested and be made to face the stiff sanction of the law. What they are doing amount to treason.”
On the amnesty promised by President Goodluck Jonathan, the security source said: “That is the political solution and since they have rejected it, we would make sure none of them escape.”

Wayne Rooney Horrid Head Injury

Wayne Rooney has posted a graphic picture on Facebook showing the head injury that forced him out of England's next two World Cup qualifiers.

The 27-year-old suffered the deep cut in a freak training ground collision with the boot of Manchester United team-mate Phil Jones last week.
Old Trafford boss David Moyes said the striker could be out for three weeks. England team-mate Theo Walcott has described the photograph as "like something out of a horror film".
Roy Hodgson's side face Moldova at Wembley on Friday and then a difficult trip to Ukraine on Tuesday. Rooney is one of three players who have withdrawn from the squad due to injury.
Glen Johnson was forced off with an ankle injury during Liverpool's 1-0 win over Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday, while United's Jones was also substituted with a similar problem

16 People Arrested For Making Cooking Oil From Animals

A total of sixteen people have gone on trial in China accused of a $10 million scam which saw waste from animal parts used to make cooking oil.

It's been reported in local papers that suspects allegedly used waste oil from the fat of chickens, ducks, pigs, cattle and foxes, as well as fox fur, chicken feathers, and "leftover pieces of offal and poultry".
It is the latest case to highlight poor food safety standards in China, a growing source of anger for many.
The China Daily said it was the biggest case since the country streamlined its laws to target such practices in May.
Food safety experts say the oil could destroy the digestive tract. The oil was sold to more than 100 food enterprises in five provinces and municipalities for about 60 million yuan ($9.8million).
Health authorities in China last year launched a crackdown on "gutter oil", which normally refers to cooking oil illegally made by reprocessing waste oil or by dredging up leftovers from restaurants and marketing it as new.
More than 100 people were arrested and 20 imprisoned, two of them for life, as part of the campaign.
Poor food safety standards are a major concern in China, particularly among the less affluent who cannot buy imported products.READ MORE:  http://news.naij.com/46172.html

EVIL: Gunmen Murder Father And Son In Plateau State, Mother Injured

A man and his son lost their lives to brute gunmen at Tanchol settlement of Gyel District in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Another child, who sustained injuries, reportedly died in the hospital on Wednesday. A witness said the attackers injured the wife of the deceased and the other child that later died in the hospital.
He said the injured persons were hospitalized in a private hospital in Bukuru, headquarters of the council. The Plateau State Commissioner of Information, Yiljap Abraham, in a press briefing on Wednesday said the woman was in a critical condition at the hospital.
Confirming the incident to journalists on Wednesday at the force headquarters in Jos, the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Chris Olakpe, said the command has dispatched senior officers to fish out the perpetrators. “Two persons lost their lives in the attack, we have already setup a high power delegation to investigate the killing,” he said.
The police chief said the team is “led by a senior crime police expert.” He also explained that the police had begun investigating the recent upsurge in attacks in the state, although no arrests have been made. “A team of police officers has been assigned to investigate the incessant attacks,” he said.
The police commissioner attributed the renewed attacks to reported cases of alleged cattle rustling in some parts of the state. Mr. Olakpe appealed to Plateau residents to engage in neighbourhood watch of their vicinities and report suspicious movements.
“I implore everyone to be on the lookout for these attackers,” he said. “Security checks should be a collective responsibility of all; it should not be left in the hands of security officials alone.”
At least 16 people have been killed in the last two weeks in various Plateau councils without any arrest by security agencies. Mr. Olakpe said a meeting of stakeholders and religious heads including Aldo’s [leaders of Fulani’s] in the state will be held at the weekend, at the instance of the police to discuss the renewed attacks.

PDP’s crisis deepens

• Jonathan, leaders meet
• Atiku’s faction sues Tukur’s group
• Party awaits outcome of elders’ intervention
• Compromise may lead to new structure
. Faction pledges to accept verdict, insists on justice
AS the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) top hierarchy meets Tuesday with President Goodluck Jonathan, a fresh legal hurdle threatens an early resolution of the party’s crisis.
The meeting Tuesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, is a follow-up to a similar one held between Jonathan and 16 PDP governors, four of who were arrowheads of the faction referred to as the New PDP.
Indicative of the widening crack in the PDP, the faction led by Alhaji Kawu Baraje Monday filed a suit before a Lagos High Court seeking to stop the Dr. Bamanga Tukur-led group from further functioning as officers of the party.
The plaintiffs are Baraje, Sam Sam Jaja,  Olagunsoye Oyinlola and the PDP.
They are asking the court to restrain defendants in the suit - Tukur,  Uche Secondus, Mrs. Kema Chikwe, Olisah Metuh and others -   from parading themselves as members of the National Executive of the party.
Tukur is the Chairman of his own faction, Secondus the Deputy Chairman, Chikwe  the Woman Leader and Metuh the Publicity Secretary.
The court, presided over by Justice Ganiyu Safari, granted the plaintiffs’ leave to serve the defendants in their various locations which are outside the court’s jurisdiction.
But the court refused to hear the plaintiffs’ argument on the determination of which of the factions is legally entitled to be members of the National Executive Council of the party.
Justice Safari ordered that status quo be maintained and ordered the plaintiffs to convert the ex-parte motion to motion on notice, which the court ruled, must be served on other parties.  He adjourned the matter till September 9.
The uncertainty is increasing as the PDP awaits the outcome of the intervention by its elders regarding the breakaway of some of its members last Saturday.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olisa Metuh, told journalists at the end of the National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja that the party’s elders and leaders would consider issues raised and their implications before arriving at the appropriate solution.
It was learnt yesterday that negotiations between the two PDP factions at the reconciliatory meetings may result in a compromise that might in turn affect the current structure of the PDP leadership.
Ahead of the rescheduled meeting of the PDP leaders today, some leaders of the Atiku Abubakar-led breakaway group of the party met yesterday evening in a prominent hotel in Abuja to consolidate on the position of the faction and decide on which one could be dropped or insisted on.
A source close to the breakaway group disclosed yesterday that its grievances would be more thoroughly discussed by the party elders so that appropriate solutions would be applied.
“You see, we cannot say a final word on the issue right now. Some people were not happy with the way things have been done in the party and discussions are ongoing already. Nobody can tell you that he has won or lost until those intervening have concluded their exercise. What I can also tell you is that the people you called breakaway faction are not stupid. They would not be carried away by mere promises this time around.”
He continued: “That is why they are meeting this evening to consolidate their grievances, review them and consider the ones that can be dropped and those to insist on. What is certain for now is that each camp must be prepared to yield ground. Some things will definitely give way in both camps no matter big or small.”
Metuh declared that a high-level consultation on the protest by Atiku, and the seven governors which culminated in the declaration of new PDP was in progress.
“Consultation is going on at the highest level of this party, the president, national chairman of our party, chairman, board of trustees and PDP governors are meeting on this and their discussions so far have been very encouraging. At the appropriate time, we will communicate to the media the decisions they reached. The meeting is continuing on Tuesday, and once the meeting is over, whatever the outcome is, we will communicate immediately to the press and we will inform you the reasons behind the decisions, but for now, consultations are going on at the highest level of this country of the party,” Metuh said.
Monday’s meeting of the NWC was unusually brief having lasted for less than an hour.
PDP National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur, left the party national secretariat shortly after the meeting ended at noon and never returned to office.
Also, the party has re-affirmed Dr. Charles Aderemi Akitoye as its Acting National Secretary until a court order which restrained it from conducting an election into that office is finally disposed of.
Metuh said that there was no basis for the removal of Akitoye from office since there was no representation to that effect from the South-West where the position was zoned to.
According to Metuh, “there is no basis for the replacement of Dr. Akintoye as the Acting National Secretary of the party until the pending suit is decided finally.  More so, is there any protest from the South-West Zone against him? Is there any court order? There is no protest, there is no petition, there is no representation against him. So, Dr. Akitoye remains the Acting National Secretary of the party until the court decides otherwise.”
Oyinlola had written to the National Convention Planning Committee of the party over his pending appeal on the office and the need for the committee not to conduct election into the office of the National Secretary which the party took judicial notice  of and put the election on hold.
The breakaway group of the PDP yesterday declared that it would be guided by the intervention of the elders of the party into the crisis between it and the Tukur-led PDP.
In a statement by its National Secretary, Oyinlola, the New PDP said it would remain committed to the struggle against injustice.
The statement stressed the resolve of the new PDP to continue with its mission of rescuing the party.
It reads in part: “Alhaji Baraje and other leaders of the party appreciate the overwhelming outpouring of support and encouragement from genuine members and leaders of the party across the country. We assure them that we will not disappoint them in the mission to make the PDP work again in the interest of Nigeria and its people.
“We also appreciate the efforts of leaders of the party, particularly President Goodluck Jonathan and former President Olusegun Obasanjo who, we note, have scheduled a meeting of the party elders for this week. We respect the elders and will be guided by them even as we stress that we will not abandon the ideals of justice and fairness that gave birth to the new party leadership under Alhaji Baraje.
“We equally call on all party members across the country to remain peaceful and law-abiding as the PDP rescue process is being pursued with vigour. We owe the coming generation of Nigerians a duty of ensuring that impunity and dictatorship do not take any root in our democracy and, indeed, in our nation,” the statement added.
The statement pointed out that the leadership was encouraged by the overwhelming support it had been receiving from party members across the country in its mission to salvage the party.
The new PDP said it had also sent a condolence message to its Adamawa State chapter on the road crash that killed some delegates from that state on Saturday.

A Nigerian Girl Stabbed To Death In Abidjan.

Abidjan
September 2, 2013

The death of a Nigerian girl, Queen Ebimaho, has left some Nigerians in Abidjan, living with fear of insecurity, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Ebimaho, was on Aug. 24, found dead in the pool of her own blood inside her room in a brothel in Ajame, Abidjan.

Eyewitnesses told NAN that the corpse of the girl who only arrived Abidjan about two months ago had a series of punctures.

She is said to have been brought into the country by a Nigerian lady identified as Joy Larry.

NAN reports that many Nigerian girls who are regularly trafficked into the country take to prostitution as a means of survival.

NAN reports that though no case of death has occurred in the past six months, many of the girls face undue harassment and intimidation from men who patronize them.

Meanwhile some Nigerians residing in Ajame who spoke to NAN have accused the Consular Officer in the Nigerian Embassy, Mr Obinna Ogbonna of treating issues concerning Ebimaho’s death with levity.

They accused the consular officer of failing to make official report to the relevant authorities in the host country to ensure adequate investigations into the cause of the dead.

According to them, the embassy also refused to play any role in the burial of the dead Nigerian in spite of repeated calls on the consular officer.

When contacted, Ogbonna confirmed the death of the Nigerian, saying: ``she died from injuries that looked like stabs from a yet to be identified person

``We took the matter officially to the Ivorian police and we were told that she was stabbed.

``But the girl in question has no consular card, our investigations show that she is just about two months old in the country,’’ he said.

He said the corpse was taken for burial by a Nigerian identified as Osas, who also resides in Ajame without any official information to the embassy. (NAN)

How My Dad Broke My Virginity & Continue To Sleep With Me ––Female Student Reveals

After allowing her dad sleep with her for
about 9 months out of fear, she has finally
broken her silence:
“At the age of 16, I had not slept with any boy
or man, but my father returned from Spain last
December and started having sex with me.”
“If my father doesn’t pay my fees no one will
do it. My mother does not have the means to
take care of me in school so I was afraid to
inform anybody about my ordeal; not even my
mother.”
This 17-year-old female student of Takoradi
Senior High School revealed in an interview
that her biological father broke her virginity
and has been having sexual intercourse with
her for the past nine months, at his Adiembra
residence near Sekondi.
According to the girl, her father who was
sojourning in Spain returned to Ghana
December last year and that was when it all
started.
The girl [names withheld] said her parents
were divorced and her father was the one
taking care of her so he threatened to stop
supporting her if she told anybody.
She also revealed that her father stopped her
from going to church in fear that she might
inform some of the church leaders of what he
had been doing to her.
The girl said that on Friday August 23, 2013,
after she had returned from school her father
demanded to have sex with her but she
refused and he gathered all her belongings
including school uniforms, text and exercise
books and set them ablaze.
“After that he still wanted to have sex with me
so I run away to a neighbour’s house and it was
there that I broke the news to some of the
residents", he added.
Personnel of the Domestic Violence and
Victims Support Unit of the Ghana Police
Service have arrested the father and placed
him in custody pending further investigations.
